In all my glory...
WHATS UP? As I am sure you have already concluded, I am Bret McNee. What you most likely do not know is that I am a 25 year old graphic designer, artist, and 3D guru in training living in the beautiful city of Vancouver, BC.
Just a heads up, I don’t really like talking about myself… but because you clicked this link I GUESS I am obligated to tell you SOMETHING about me other than my name and age *rolls eyes*…just kidding. 
I graduated in 2007 from Principia College in Elsah, IL with a BA degree in Fine Art with a Graphic Design focus. During college I dabbled in visual fundamentals, color studies, water color painting, oil painting, graphic production, drawing, figure studies, web design, and multimedia design. But after all of that, good ol’ graphic design became my focus.
Since college I have worked for a few different places trying to get experience under my belt. I have interned for leading action sports company Scott USA, worked as an Art Director for a highly respected and world renowned commercial photographer, David Stoecklein; all the while managing my own freelance projects. Then of course there are the various odd jobs like working the Allen and Company Conference during the summer, and coaching Freshman High School basketball here in my home town. I recently just finished up a job as a designer for an online and local retail store The Picket Fence. I ran the blog at The Picket as well.
Graphic Design has been great, but recently my heart has been drifting and my interest has been set on the world of computer 3D. I have been pursuing this interest for the past year or so, and not very long ago I decided to take a big risk and go back to school to learn 3D. I have been accepted to the Think Tank Traning Centre in Vancouver, and I will be here for the next year or so learning 3D modeling. Follow my blog and you will see some of my 3D projects as I create.
I have traveled to over 15 countries, with my top highlights being traveling southern France for a month and visiting Tunisia in North Africa. Experiencing other walks of life is a passion of mine, and someday when I am old and seasoned, I would hope to combine my art and travels.
As of right now, I really try to stay current with the art world around me. Professionally I am a graphic designer, and now I am trying to switch to a career in 3D… but I have a strong passion for drawing, illustration, cartooning, animation, 3D computer graphics and graffiti art. At 25 I am in no way an expert and I am always learning and adapting… Always looking for the next thing that will bring me more experience in life.
I am simply here to share and learn, and I hope you feel like you can participate. This blog is about my passions and interests as well as a showcase for my art life… College work, bad work, good work, professional work, and pleasure. You can find it all here.
