Hey guys,
It has been quite a whirl wind here at school lately. I decided to “ramp up” my time spent at school and that has basically been all day every day from 8:30 am until 12:00 am. I was so busy these past few weeks that I had no time to hit the grocery store at all and until today I was having to mooch off my girlfriend for food.
Anyways, groceries aside I want to show you guys a few of my first projects here in second semester.
For those of you new to blogs, please click on continue reading to see the rest of this post. And don’t forget to click the images to see a bigger picture.
In the first week of class, we re-visited the bouncing ball assignment with Morgan Ratsoy our 3D Animation instructor. This is a very basic assignment, but because it is a fundamental principal of animation and none of us really know Maya very well yet, it was quite a valid project. As you will see, I did three bounces. Light ping pong ball, heavy bowling ball, and a cartoon rubber ball.
Another fun little project we did was in modeling class. We learned dynamic simulations in Softimage. With these new abilities we had to create a “mouse trap” (the board game) type of contraption. A Rube Goldberg if you will… Anyways, to be honest I did not take this project super seriously, and I just went for getting a laugh out of people. Well I succeeded. Take a look.
The next goody project was to model something very simple and geometric in Maya. I have never used Maya before, so this was quite the learning experience. I have to say I love XSI for modeling, but I can see how Maya is very important and I can’t wait to learn more of it. Here is my goofy model. Gir from Invader Zim.
Next on the list is my sculpting class. We jumped right into Mudbox again, but this time with some more official instruction. The assignment was to model two Pokemon and two faces.
In modeling class, we started an assignment where we had to model a gun. Once we finished with a high resolution gun, we had to make the same gun in a smaller resolution. I am going to explain this project in more detail later in the week, but for now I will show you an image of my finished high resolution gun. (As well as images from sculpting.)
Thanks for reading guys. Stay tuned for more fun stuff coming soon…
This is Hank. Sculpted for Mudbox class.
This is Peter, I sculpted him once before, but this time I think I got a lot closer.
Here are my Pokemon.
The concept I am using for my gun.
My high rez gun. Soon to be changed to a low rez object with normal maps. (We will talk about this in my next post.)

Man o man…you have been working hard! Great job. I really like your domino video…it was kinda funny too. You male models are not GQ matterial though…I would complain about that – lol.
It is fun to watch your progress. You can really see your improvements.
Mom
sweet work! That bug pokemon is a little bizzare. The pokemon people are obviously running out of ideas :0
