Hey gang.
Thanks for the feedback on Twitter from my last post. My class was really excited for me to put that stuff online. Good to get some eyes on their work. Today I am going to put the focus back on me.
Recently in modeling class we have started using Autodesk’s Mudbox. For those of you who don’t know, Mudbox is a modeling program where you sculpt just like you would clay. The program I have been using until now is called XSI. In XSI all you do is model with faces or “polygons.” In Mudbox you actually digitally sculpt the polygons. You start with a base mesh, and then you build on top of it. In this post I will show you what I mean with some before and after examples.
I was also reminded of a few other projects I have been working on, so I will also include those in the post. I also wanted to add a little side note today: I have been doing several animation projects, but I don’t think I will be uploading them online anymore. I have decided to focus my attention on modeling, lighting, and texturing so I think for the most part the projects I post will reflect those. Animation is fun, but not a path I am really interested in perusing further than a hobby at this point.
Enjoy the post. Thanks for reading. Click continue reading to see the images.
I am also going to include some images from other projects I have forgotten to post! Thanks for reading.

Ok Bret, now you are really freaking me out!!!! I can’t believe you did all of those heads – they are so amazing! They are all great, but I think I like ‘Spike’ the best….did you make him up or copy him???
I guess those 18 hour work days are paying off…
Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your progress!
Hey mom,
Yeah Spike, Monkey Man, and Fawn were all done straight from my head. I did not look at any reference for those guys. I am doing a few more sculpts today that I will post soon. I am getting better! Thanks for looking.
It’s going to be interesting to see where you are in 10 years time.
Thank you for the kind comment Amanda.
