Two posts in one day!? What is this… Actually I meant to include this in my last post but I completely forgot.
Think Tank is doing a renovation to the school, and part of that renovation is creating a nice inspirational and cool environment for the students. One of the things that is planned is a large “Spirit of Adventure” blimp from the Pixar movie “Up.” The blimp will hang from the ceiling on a track that can be remote controlled.
Well the heads of school asked for help with this task, and I offered my services. They asked me to 3D model half of the blimp. The half I built was the “cockpit”, “undercarriage”, “fuselage” … whatever you call it. So I cranked this out for them in about 10 hours of work… My 3D model will be taken to a 3D printing machine and actually turned into a real life 3D resin object. It will then be attached to the blimp part that is being created by another student. And when it is all fit together, sanded, and painted… It will then be turned into a remote control object on a track then students can fly that thing around for years to come!
I am including some pictures, so have a look. The first is my reference (remember I only built the bottom part), and the second is the final model built by me.
Click it to see a higher rez image. Enjoy. (click continue reading to see the images.)

Very cool, its always fun to see a 3D model you’ve made become ‘real’, be sure to post pics when its all done. Do you know what type of material it will be printed in?
Hey Nate. I know it is a type of resin… I am not sure what kind is used. The company doing it is “ProtoDemon.” One of my instructors owns the company. Thanks for checking it out.
